Swf is Shock Wave Flash/File. It is also referred as Small web format.
It is the compiled Flash file that runs on websites and is used for multimedia, vector graphics and action script.Although de compiler programs exist that allow the action script code to be seen in the swf, the swf itself cannot be modified. The FLA would need to be modified and recompiled into a new swf.
