Allows for a small amount of video to be received from a user’s computer before playback begins. Buffer helps counteract bandwidth spikes and helps ensure smoother playback. Streaming video buffer is typically set in the code from 1 to 5 seconds of video.
The smaller the buffer is, the sooner the video will start. However, it will be more likely to run out of buffer on slower connections and pause to re-buffer.
